Terms of Service

These Terms set out the conditions and procedures for using LoL Codex (the "Service") and the rights and obligations of Users and the Operator. They take effect when you agree to them on first launching the app.

Article 1 (Purpose)

The purpose of these Terms is to set out the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of the Operator and Users with respect to the use of LoL Codex (the "Service"), a mobile application provided by Seongjun Kim, an individual developer (the "Operator").

Article 2 (Definitions)

1. "Service" means all functions provided by the Operator, including the League of Legends information lookup functions, the user message board, and the provision of Riot Games official news and esports match schedules.

2. "User" means a person who agrees to these Terms and uses the Service.

3. "Account" means the anonymous means of identification automatically created by the Service in order to identify a User. The Service has no separate sign-up procedure.

4. "Posts" means all information published by a User on the Service, including articles, comments, photos, polls, nicknames, and one-line introductions.

5. "Points" means a Service-only figure awarded for activity within the Service and for watching advertisements; points serve as the basis for tier and as the balance used to purchase cosmetic items. Points have no monetary value.

Article 3 (Posting and Amendment of the Terms)

1. The Operator posts the contents of these Terms on the initial screen of the Service and on the in-app settings screen so that Users may readily review them.

2. The Operator may amend these Terms to the extent that doing so does not violate applicable law.

3. Where these Terms are amended, the Operator shall state the effective date and the grounds for the amendment and shall post them, together with the current Terms, in the in-app notices from seven days before the effective date. However, where an amendment is unfavorable to Users, the Operator shall post it from thirty days before the effective date and shall present a clear comparison of the provisions before and after the amendment.

4. A User who does not agree to the amended Terms may delete their account.

5. Matters not provided for in these Terms, and the interpretation of these Terms, shall be governed by applicable law or commercial practice.

Article 4 (Formation of the Use Agreement)

1. The use agreement is formed when a User agrees to these Terms and launches the Service.

2. The Service does not request information by which an individual can be identified, such as an email address, a phone number, or a real name; an anonymous account is created automatically when the app is launched.

3. Account information is stored in the iCloud Keychain on the User's device. If the User deletes that information, the Operator cannot recover the account.

4. Only persons aged 14 or older may use the Service.

Article 5 (Provision and Modification of the Service)

1. The Operator provides the following services.

· Lookup of champion, item, and rune information
· The user message board (Summoners' Plaza)
· Provision of Riot Games official news and esports match schedules
· Provision of links for looking up summoner match histories

2. The Operator may modify the contents of the Service and, upon any such modification, shall announce the modification and its effective date within the app.

3. Game information is a relay of material published by Riot Games, and the accuracy and currency of that material depend on the update cycle of the source.

Article 6 (Suspension of the Service)

1. The Operator may temporarily suspend provision of the Service where circumstances such as system maintenance, a malfunction, or an interruption of communications arise.

2. During maintenance, the posting, commenting, upvoting, and polling functions are restricted, while the lookup functions remain available. The Operator shall indicate the fact of maintenance within the app.

3. Where the Operator terminates the Service, it shall give notice within the app at least thirty days before the termination date.

Article 7 (Obligations of Users)

Users shall not engage in any of the following acts.

1. Insulting, defaming, or harassing another person
2. Posting obscene or violent content
3. Posting advertisements for commercial purposes or repeatedly posting identical content
4. Posting the personal information of another person
5. Posting another person's copyrighted work without authorization
6. Creating posts by automated means or manipulating upvotes
7. Creating multiple accounts so as to interfere with the operation of the Service
8. Any other act that violates applicable law or is contrary to public order and good morals

Article 8 (Copyright in Posts)

1. Copyright in a Post belongs to the User who created it.

2. A User grants the Operator a royalty-free, non-exclusive license to the extent necessary for the Post to be displayed, published, and made searchable within the Service. This license is limited to the purpose of operating the Service and is extinguished when the User deletes the Post.

3. The Operator does not sell or distribute Posts outside the Service and does not use them in advertising.

Article 9 (Management of Posts and Provisional Measures)

1. Where a Post infringes the rights of another person, such as by invading privacy or causing defamation, the injured person may request the Operator to delete that Post. Requests are received through the in-app reporting function or through the contact information in Article 17.

2. Within 24 hours from the date of receiving a deletion request, the Operator shall review the Post, take necessary measures such as deletion or a provisional measure (blinding), and notify the requester and the author of the outcome by in-app notification.

3. Where it is difficult to determine whether rights have been infringed, or where a dispute between interested parties is anticipated, the Operator may take a provisional measure blocking access to the Post for up to thirty days.

4. Where reports from three or more persons are received with respect to the same Post, that Post is blinded automatically, and the Operator shall restore or delete it after review.

5. An author may request a re-review of a provisional measure or a deletion through the in-app objection function.

6. The Operator may restrict the registration of Posts that contain prohibited words.

Article 10 (Restrictions on Use)

1. Where a User violates Article 7, the Operator may take measures such as deleting Posts, restricting posting, or suspending use.

2. The period of a restriction on use shall be determined in consideration of the nature and the number of violations, and in the case of repeated or serious violations the restriction may be permanent.

3. A User may submit an explanation regarding a restriction on use through the in-app objection function, and the Operator shall lift the restriction where it finds the explanation to be well-founded.

Article 11 (Points)

1. Users earn points by creating Posts, by receiving upvotes, and by watching advertisements, and a tier within the Service is assigned according to the points held.

2. Points may be used only to purchase cosmetic items within the Service, such as the shape or border of a profile icon, and the points held and the tier both decrease by the amount spent.

3. Points, tiers, and purchased cosmetic items cannot be exchanged for cash, cannot be transferred to another person, and are not refundable.

4. If a Post is deleted, the points accrued from that Post are extinguished with it.

5. There is no obligation to pay any separate fee in order to use the Service.

Article 12 (Display of Advertisements)

1. Advertisements provided by Google (Google LLC) are displayed in the Service.

2. The content of advertisements is determined by the advertising provider and is not selected by the Operator. Responsibility for advertising content rests with the advertiser or the advertising provider.

3. The Operator does not compel Users to watch advertisements and does not restrict use of the Service on the condition that notifications or tracking be permitted.

Article 13 (Account Deletion and Termination of the Agreement)

1. A User may delete their account at any time on the in-app settings screen.

2. Upon account deletion, the account and the Posts, comments, and photos created by the User are deleted immediately and cannot be recovered.

3. The Operator may terminate the use agreement where a User has seriously violated Article 7, and shall notify the User of the grounds and give the User an opportunity to be heard before termination.

Article 14 (Protection of Personal Information)

The Operator protects Users' personal information in accordance with applicable law, and the specific matters are set out in a separate Privacy Policy.

Article 15 (Disclaimer)

1. Responsibility for the content of a Post rests with the User who created it, and Posts do not represent the views of the Operator.

2. The Operator bears no responsibility where it is unable to provide the Service due to force majeure, such as an act of God, a power outage, or a network failure.

3. The Operator bears no obligation to intervene in a dispute arising between Users or between a User and a third party.

4. The disclaimers in this Article do not apply to damage caused by the Operator's willful misconduct or gross negligence.

Article 16 (Damages)

Where a User causes damage to the Operator or to another User by violating these Terms, that User is liable to compensate for the damage.

Article 17 (Dispute Resolution and Jurisdiction)

1. Where a dispute arises in connection with the Service, the Operator and the User shall consult in good faith in order to resolve it amicably.

2. These Terms and the use of the Service are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea.

3. Any action concerning a dispute arising from use of the Service shall be brought before the court having jurisdiction under the Civil Procedure Act.
